GAUDÍ CRYPT – THE GÜELL COLONY
The Crypt of the Colonia Güell is the work that served as Gaudi’s practice for the Sagrada Familia. This is the most amazing workshop as far as architectural innovation goes, of the 20th century, a place where all of Gaudi’s creativity exploded to the point where he “overcame all establish limits regarding shapes,” according to japane architect Arata Isozaki Arata Isozaki.
The Colonia Güell is an atypical industrial Colony, particular for its time. Gaudi and his friend the Count Güell practiced the main technical improvements of the era as well as very innovative social reforms. In the church of the Colonia Gaudi unleashed his endless creativity and genius. Moreover, he developed the techniques and structures that would later lead to the construction of the Sagrada Familia.
